A Word From the Pastor - July 18 2018

What distinguishes Baptist churches from other denominations? Well the biggest difference is theological: Believer’s Baptism. We believe that only those who have made a decision to follow Jesus Christ should be baptized. However, that isn’t the only thing that distinguishes Baptist churches from other Christians groups. We also hold to congregational rule. While there are a few other groups that believe in congregational rule, the Baptist are the largest such group.

We hold to this polity because we believe in the priesthood of every believer according to 1 Peter 2:5: “you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” God is constantly growing you and fashioning you into the servant He wants you to be to best serve in his church.

To that end, God has given us different experiences, education, passions, etc. Yet, we all have the same Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us as Christians. These differences allow us to see things from different angles and yet work together in unity to find the best solutions.

Please join us Sunday night, at our quarterly business meeting. There will be childcare….and there will be ice cream! This is a relaxed and informal time to express your concerns, desires, and share what God has placed on your heart.

Please join us Sunday night at 6:30 in the fellowship hall as we pray and seek God’s will in everything we do: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
