A Word from The Pastor - July 12, 2017

Sunday July 23rd is our next quarterly business meeting. While many envision long drawn out fights and bickering sessions, business meetings at EFBC are not like that. You will find a peaceful time of collaboration. We may disagree on some items, but we will always treat one another with love and mutual respect. All members are welcome to voice their ideas and concerns during this time. I want to encourage each and every one of you to attend.

You are needed! Many times, people who aren’t serving in a leadership capacity feel that their presence is not necessary for such meetings. Let me assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. As Baptist, we believe that God shows His will in our congregational votes. That is why we take voting so seriously and have regular business meetings so that everyone can stay informed on where the church is financially, structurally, and communally.

Your voice matters! All Christians are indwelled with the Holy Spirit the moment that they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, according to Ephesians 1:13-14. This indwelling means that all Christians have the wisdom of God implanted in their hearts. While not all follow that godly wisdom to the same extent, all Christians have “The mind of Christ,” according to 1 Corinthians 2:16. While some Christians may mistake their preferences for God’s Will from time to time, we believe God blesses the discernment of the many and leads the body of believers voting in a church to follow his will when they are truly seeking it. Your voice matters, so please come and be heard.

Come worship with us! A business meeting, isn’t a secular business meeting. It’s a worship service. It’s an opportunity for us to knit ourselves together as a body and use our own God-given wisdom to lead God’s church in a direction that will help further God’s desire to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth! When you refuse to help make decision in the local church, you hurt the church by not using the knowledge and experiences God has given you.

This business meeting will be unusual in that we will have homemade ice cream! While we normally have a meal, this time we will be sharing dessert! Come and join us July 23rd at 6:30pm. We would love for you to worship with us!

The sermon on Sunday will go cover Genesis 12:10-20. Please come by or give me a call if you have any questions or concerns!
