A Word From The Pastor | May 9

On Sunday, we started a new series through Genesis. Due to the length of the book, 51 chapters, we will not be able to examine every single story. For that reason, I'm encouraging each and every one of you to read the book of Genesis for yourself. If you read one chapter a day, you will stay ahead of me and have a better understanding of where we are in the story. There is a lot of information wrapped up in Genesis, and I do not want you to miss out on all the blessings found in studying God's Word for yourself.

Why Genesis? Because it is so foundational to the rest of Scripture. Genesis answers many of life's most pressing questions such as why we are here and what our purpose is. It is in the pages of Genesis that we first read about a coming Messiah. It's in Genesis that we first read about one of Abraham's descendants being a blessing to the whole world. It's in Genesis that we see God's true love and affection on display.

Along with reading daily, let me encourage you do something else. This week, invite someone to church. Invite your coworker who doesn't attend a church right now. Invite that family member that has not been to a church in a while. This series through Genesis is a perfect time to bring them to church and hopefully have them learn what their purpose is. Use the mugs that we have in the lobby as a conversation starter:

What you will discover is that even if people say no, they will be touched that you thought of them. Everyone wants to know that they are loved, and inviting someone to join you in something as personal as church is a loving thing to do.

We have an incredibly friendly and welcoming church. Let's make it a habit as a church to invite others to join us as we worship. Let's invite others to learn about the beginning and in turn see their hearts transformed by the power of the Gospel. God is good, and I can't wait to see how He is going to use this series and this church to change lives.
